Local Data And Exports

Psych LM is designed around local app data. Exports may be human readable and may contain sensitive personal information. Store exported files only where you are comfortable keeping private records.

Emergency Or Crisis

Psych LM is not emergency care, crisis support, medical advice, diagnosis, or therapy. If you or another person may be in danger, call emergency services immediately. In the United States, call 911 for emergencies or 988 for crisis support.

Fast answers before emailing support.

Does Psych LM replace a therapist or doctor?

No. Psych LM is self-guided assistive software for reflection, planning, journaling, goal support, and coaching-style conversation.

It does not provide medical care, diagnosis, therapy, crisis support, or professional advice. Do not use it to make medical, legal, financial, emergency, or other high-stakes decisions.

Can support recover my local chats?

Usually no. Psych LM is designed around local app data, so support generally cannot see or recover records that exist only on your device.

Before deleting the app, resetting your device, switching devices, or changing backups, export or back up anything you want to keep. Exported files may be human readable and may contain sensitive personal information.

Why did a model response seem wrong?

AI-generated responses can be incomplete, inaccurate, repetitive, delayed, irrelevant, or inappropriate. The app may misunderstand your current message, saved context, profile details, memory records, goals, or risk level.

Use responses as prompts for your own judgment, not as instructions you must follow. If a response seems off, correct the app in plain language or start a new chat with clearer context.

Where can I read the privacy policy?

The privacy policy is available from the Privacy link in the site navigation.

What information should I include in a bug report?

Include your device model, iOS version, Psych LM app version, what you were doing, what you expected, what happened instead, and whether the issue repeats.

Do not send private chats, exports, screenshots, logs, or personal information unless you are comfortable sharing them. If you do share screenshots or files, review them first for sensitive details.

What happens when I export my data?

Exports are designed to give you access to your own records. They may include chats, profile context, memory records, goals, plans, summaries, reports, or other app-created data depending on the export type.

Exports may be human readable and may contain sensitive personal information. Store them only in places you trust, and be careful before sending, uploading, printing, or sharing exported files.

Does local-first mean no privacy risk?

No. Local-first reduces some exposure, but it does not make data risk-free. Your device, operating system, iCloud or device backups, screenshots, notifications, shared devices, physical access, malware, exported files, and support emails can still expose information.

You are responsible for your device passcode, Apple account security, backups, exports, and where you store files created from the app.

Can I delete or correct memory records?

Use the app's memory, profile, and settings tools where available to review, correct, rescan, export, or remove records. Memory records are software-generated and may be incomplete, stale, mislabeled, or wrong.

If a future answer seems to rely on incorrect context, tell Psych LM directly what is wrong and correct the saved information if the app exposes a control for that record.

What should I do in an emergency?

Do not use Psych LM for emergencies, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, violence prevention, abuse reporting, severe symptom escalation, or urgent safety decisions.

If you or another person may be in danger, call emergency services immediately. In the United States, call 911 for emergencies or 988 for crisis support.

Why can app behavior change between versions?

Psych LM may change prompts, model routing, memory handling, goals, exports, settings, and user interface behavior as the app improves. Local models and Apple system features may also vary by device, iOS version, storage, availability, and app settings.

Check the support page for current guidance and contact support if an update appears to break an important workflow.

Where is the technical system report?

The arXiv system report is available at doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2605.24411.

Who develops Psych LM?

Psych LM is created by Alex Mihalcea, an independent developer building local-first AI tools for private reflection, planning, goals, memory, and self-guided coaching-style workflows.
